Under licence from Piaggio, Bajaj Auto Ltd started production of vespa 150 identical to the Italian VBA 150cc model built in Italy between 1958-1960. In 1960 Bajaj, pronounced "Bah-jaaj," obtained a manufacturing license from the Indian Government. He loved them so much that at the age of 22, he became the Indian licensee to produce vespa. It is said that Rahul Bajaj adored the famous Vespa scooters made by Piaggio of Italy.
